AFRO NOLLYWOOD GETS AIRLINE DISAPPOINTMENT
There are indications that the failure of the 2013 edition of Afro Nollywood to hold in the UK last weekend was the inability of the organisers to getting its airline sponsor fulfill the latter pledge of free return tickets for guests. However by the time of filling this report no reason has been given for the cancellation.
In view of the aborted trip, one of the invited awardee who asked to be unanimous told The New Star Magazine, "It`s true there was a problem about our travel plans. We have not been officially notified that it has been cancelled but feelers i got from some of my colleagues was that the organisers had problem with the airline. All effort to getting the organisers talk with me on phone has not been fruitful. This ugly fate is fast becoming a recurring issues with Nollywood awards done outside the shores of this country."
Meanwhile the CEO of Afro Nollywood, Tunji Bamishigbi has denied rumours that the trip was cancelled due to failure of the sponsor airline in providing the proposed free airlifting of its guests.
Speaking on phone, Tunji hinted, "It`s been shifted to next year February. We did that because some of the invited artistes did not get their visas on time. That was coming in bit. By the time some of them explained this out to their managers the time has elapsed. It has nothing to do with failure of airline to provide us airlifting. The cost of flight though has gone up but its not the cause of the shift."
