SO SAD: DORA AKUNYILI DIES

SO SAD: DORA AKUNYILI DIES AT 59 IN INDIA!
A former Director-General of the Nigerian Administration For Food And Drug Control (NAFDAC), and former Minister of Information, Dora Akunyili is dead, E24-7  MAGAZINE reports.
The former Anambra State gubernatorial aspirant who is a delegate at the ongoing National Conference in Abuja, died in an Indian hospital at the age of 59.

Dora had been in the news a lot recently, especially when she appeared at the venue of the National Confab some months ago looking frail and a ghost of her normal self. In the past two weeks alone, there had been two different rumours about her death, which her media aide, Isaac Umunna, had swiftly debunked on social media.
It should be recalled that Akunyili had won public admiration and respect following her exploits when she was at the helm of affairs at NAFDAC. She had helped in no small way to sanitise the drug market, particularly bringing the heavy hand of the law to bear on drug counterfeiters.
Until her death, she was an active member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), and is the recipient of such awards as the Time Magazine Award (2006), Silverbird’s Person of the Year (2005), Integrated World Services’ Award of Excellence (2005), amongst others.
She will be greatly missed...may her soul rest in peace!
