With the need for the Nigerian movie
industry to play better its pivotal role as Africa`s leading film producing
nation both in terms of quantity and quality, Akwa Ibom born Nollywood film
director Akan Archibong has stated that he is among directors in the industry that
are set to change the face of movie directing and making for good.
Akan who was cornered at a big budget
movie location at Ajah, Lagos told TNS, “its has always been my dream to be the
best film maker in the world. This I have started doing here in Nollywood. From
Nigeria I hope to take my skill into the bigger world of movie making. I started
good and each day is taking me up there where the sky may never be a limiting factor
to my unstoppable growth.”
However multiple Awards winning Akan
is of the view that Nollywood stars rarely keep to time on movie locations.
According to him, “Some of our actors
don’t keep to location time. That is especially where they are not given hotel
accommodation. It’s a big challenge to the industry. If this is curbed there
would be a better understanding between actors and directors. It will
definitely transform to a more developed movie industry.”
On Nollywood and where it’s coming
from and going these seasons, Akan gave a score of 100%. To him, Nollywood has
done too good and deserves praises from all and sundry.
He however did not give out a clue on
how soon he would walk the aisles with his woman. Neither did he say if he has
found that beautiful woman yet.
Akan is the director of the popular
television soap, Married.
