Beyoncé added MASSIVE fuel to the fire - the fire being persistent rumours of Jay-Z's infidelity - by changing the lyrics to her song 'Resentment' last week. Rather than singing the original lines "been riding with you for six years", Beyonceé sang "been riding with you for TWELVE years." The entire song is about cheating, and 12 years is how long Bey and Jay have been together, so you can see why everyone's freaking out.
After Beyoncé's little lyrical change-up, the rumour-mill decided that yes, Jay-Z is cheating, and they knew who he was cheating with. A bunch of people said that Jay-Z had been having a long-term affair with singer Mya, proposing that they had dated early on in his relationship with Beyoncé and that Jay-Z had been financially supporting her for years.
Mya, understandably, was a little pissed off about all these rumours. People kept commenting on her social media posts calling her a homewrecker and a "side chick", which, we imagine, would get pretty old, pretty fast. Mya took the the comments of an Instagram post to strongly refute any idea that she and Jay-Z are having an affair.
"Never did, never was, never will", she wrote. "Illegitimate, thirsty sources with no facts and that's the media for you - especially today. I play second to no-one, pay my own bills, have my own label, my own management company, rely on God only and respect myself & marriage too much for nonsense. False rumours are crafted for ratings & numbers. And miserable, unhappy people need someone to judge to deter the attention away from their own misery and feel better about their miserable lives. If they did it to Jesus, they'll do it to anyone. God bless." Well said.
So that's that. But we still have NO IDEA what the heck is going on with Beyoncé and Jay-Z. Why the resent-filled song change? Why do rumours of infidelity just keep coming up? And WHY DID SOLANGE ATTACK JAY-Z? Comment below or tweet us @CosmopolitanUK to let us know your thoughts. We need answers, ASAP.
