-Husband rubbishes financial constraints tale
Arrangement to bring back home the body of late singer, Kefee Don-Momoh has reached concluding stage, ENCOMIUM Weekly authoritatively gathered. Family sources revealed her corpse would be airlifted from the US where she died back to Nigeria for burial through a chartered private aircraft and the cost of which has been taken care of by the Delta state government.
The governor Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan was said to have risen to the occasion after the intervention of Kefee’s colleagues in the music industry led by gospel crooner Sammy Okposo. Sammy was said to have spoken to Richard Mofe Damijo, who is the state commissioner for Arts and Culture. He (RMD) related the development to the governor.
The initial delay in the process and efforts to bring Kefee’s corpse back home for burial was blamed on lack of finance which the husband, Teddy Don-Momoh had since denied. He (Teddy) maintained the process of finalizing the required paperwork for his wife’s corpse to be flown home caused all the delay. Presently, there is no burial programme from the family, no date has been fixed yet. We learnt she would be buried in Okpara Inland, Ethiope East Local government with a celebratory service in Sapele, Delta state.
Aside that, her colleagues in the industry have also released their plans to celebrate her in death. About 100 members of the Nigerian entertainment industry gathered in Lagos on Monday, June 23, 2014, to device ways and means of giving Kefee, a befitting burial. At the gathering were Sammy Okposo, Nikki Laoye, Anny Emmanuel, Tosin Martins, DJ Gosporella, Emem Ema, Wamilele, Princess, Tee-Y Mix, Perry Martins, Praise Machine, Mudi, Righteousman, Nene Soul Diva and others.
A body called the Kefee Memorial Committee (KMC) was constituted at the meeting to plan events which would hold in Lagos and Sapele, the hometown of the late singer.
Attempts made to get across to Teddy Don-Momoh who is still in the US was unsuccessful. His mobile phone couldn’t be reached.
A close friend of the On-Air Personality told ENCOMIUM Weekly that he (Teddy) is still in shock over his wife’s death. “I tried to get him on phone, I couldn’t. I guess he is still in shock over his wife’s death”. The news of the death of Kefee Don-Momoh hit the entertainment scene like a thunderbolt on Friday, June 13, 2014. She died after 15 days in coma at Desert Spring Hospital, Las Vegas, United States of America after she failed to recover from coma. She reportedly collapsed on a Chicago, (IIIionis) bound flight on Thursday, May 29, 2014, forcing the plane to make an emergency landing in Los Angeles, California so she could receive medical attention. And she slipped into coma while colleagues, family and friends prayed for her recovery. She was moved the Desert Spring Hospital, Las Vegas, US intensive care unit where she eventually died. A statement released by her United Kingdom manager, Adeline Adebayo on Friday, June 13, 2014, insisted she died of lungs failure. And 19 days after her death, she is yet to be buried.
