THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER KEFEE-SAMMIE OKPOSO

A colleague and ‘brother from another mother” to the late gospel singer, Irikefe Obareki Don Momoh aka Kefee, Sammie Okposo while paying tribute on the singer`s death, opined that there will never be another Kefee. Sammie made this statement during a media chat relayed on Lagos Television (LTV) on Friday 13^th ,June 2014.

According to the music artiste, “I was hurt when I heard of the news of her hospital admission and prayed that she recovers soon. Then this morning I got unpalatable news confirming death. That was from her UK management, that she died this morning.

It is not something I will be able to forget easily. I have been trying to add the three letter words, R I P to her name; it is so strange. Kefee`s death is what we should be talking about in the next 80 years after she might have lived a good life.”

He went, “We can ask God questions but we cannot question Him. That is the hard point. This is because she was full of life, chatting with me even before she travelled. We were supposed to work together on my new project when she comes back.

All I need do now is to remember her for the life she lived. That is the only way I can comfort myself. She was full of life, bubbling, fun to be with. She laughs a lot. She tells you the way it is, whether you like it or not. She doesn’t pretend. We will celebrate her. It is a good lose not just to the part we come from, but to the gospel industry in Nigeria and Africa. There will never be another Irikefe(Kefee).”
