Nollywood actress Doris Simeon
has attributed reasons she recently opened a hair salon at Ogba area of Lagos
to fulfilling her childhood dreams. One
of such was the in-born desire in her to beautify people, her colleagues and
all in the entertainment industry. Another was that with growing up with a mother
who was a hair dresser and having learn the trade from childhood she has always
wanted to carry on her innate passion and childhood wish to open a salon for
business. The quite looking thespian
also said that she also wanted to diversify her investment from the movie
industry where all is about acting, shooting and producing movies.
In her own words, “Hair dressing
talent in me is an inbuilt thing. I grew up knowing that my mother is a hair
dresser and I basically grew up in the salon and that way I picked up on it.
My opening a hair salon is just
to establish and invest in other businesses. It is just being an entrepreneur
trying to invest here and there that will bring in money not illegal
businesses. This is what will help you out in the future and also try to help
others as well.”
On the questions if she may in
the near future abandon acting for the fashion industry and whether lack of
movie jobs is one of her reasons for investing in a beauty salon business,
Doris was quick to interpose, “I don’t intend doing hair dressing as career. I
will continue with my normal career in the movie industry. My having this is
not because I feel the industry is broke or that I can’t get jobs anymore. It
is been my passion since when I learn it from my mum. It is one of those
things I already have in mind to get up and build.”
Meanwhile she is of the opinion
that the fashion industry is part of the entertainment industry. She concluded, “If people don’t present
themselves well before the public that is the way they will be regarded. My coming into the business is to create a
total makeover thing.”
