”I only came to Ekiti during Segun
Oni PDP-led Government to commission projects. When you vote Fayose and the PDP
returns to Ekiti again, I will join hands with him to develop this state.”,
President Ebele Azikiwe Goodluck Jonathan promised at the campaign rally of
Fayose in Ekiti on Saturday. The Bayelsa Sate born Nigeria`s Henchman also gave
a reason he never visited Ekiti for a long time.
According to the President, there
were no projects for him to commission during his absence from the State with
the largest number of Professors. But what is worrisome is, could the issue of
no project be put solely at the table of the APC led state government. With that
in mind many are asking, why didn’t the President see it fit to announce the
presence of his government in Ekiti all these past years? Must he be selected,
that only in PDP or PDP friendly states, would he establish the federal
presence? Is the PDP federal government not supposes to be for all, irrespective
of the political party the people choose to belong to?
Another concern
of Nigerians is the words of the President Governor of Akwa Ibom state,
Godswill Akpabio and the president of the Senate, David Mark regarding the person
of the gubernatorial candidate of the PDP for the Ekiti State governorship
election this June.
While the
President mentioned that Ekiti is reputed to be a state where almost all families
have two or three professors, one thing he failed to say is that there may be
no professor from Fayose`s family.
Then let’s
talk about Akpabio: he said Fayose have made mistakes in the past but has
returned not to make such again. This was corroborated by David Mark, saying
that the man his party chooses to rule Ekiti is a “New Improved Fayose.”
Here comes
the real gist, would any of these men allow a mistake maker or a once bad
product like Fayose rule over his estate not to talk of a big corporate body
like Ekiti State?
This may
have made some persons to ask, is there no better candidate the Goodluck and
Mauzu led PDP could propose to the well educated people of the state, called
Fountain of Knowledge?
What do you
think?
