With the story that the death of ace
actor Amuta Romanus Uche a.k.a Natty is fake, the latest an exclusive
revelation on how the rumour got its wing has finally emerged. It came from the
office of the National Secretary of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Abubakar
Yakubu during a media chat with TNS at the guild`s Surulere office on Tuesday June
10th 2014.
According to the AGN`s scribe, “The
rumour was a mistake from a so call online blogger that broke the fake news. It
was very unprofessional. The truth is that Natty is not dead sand very much
alive as I speak with you.”
In his words, Abu said, “The rumour
came about as a result of the presence of the AGN`s President, Ibinabo Fiberisima
and I in Enugu. She had to cut short her trip to UK to see to Natty`s case. It
was unfortunate that when we took him to the Niger Foundation Hospital, Enugu
another Nollywood practitioner, Lizzy Ogbodo who had slumped three days before on
a movie set, died that morning. So we met some artistes mourning and they were
informed of the arrival of the sick Natty at the same hospital. I think that
was how some people mistook the death of Lizzy to Natty.”
On how the once financially broke AGN
could afford medic care for Natty and other artistes on its medical list, he went
on, “The fund of for the treatment of natty and others under the care of the
AGN was granted to the guild by the president, Goodluck Jonathan. He
contributed to our endowment fund that was meant to cater for our members in
needs. That was how we gave N10m to Chike Bryan for kidney transplant. It is
also the same purse from which we are also giving assistance to Prince James Uche
in Lagos; he is blind and receiving treatments. Take note that we have so far spent
overN273, 000 on James and more will be
spent to get him better. Natty`s case is stroke with paralysis on one side of
his body, leg and hand.
Then Ozor Akubueze is sick too and
under our care in Enugu. He has pancreas disease. He is under going operations.
However Natty is going to be taken care of after treatment by the guild. His
chance of surviving is about 80%. The 20% is of GOD.”
To corroborate his story Abu provided
TNS with documents confirming his stories on the guild`s veterans. Below are
copies of such documents:
